BVF 801 Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat for Infrared Heating

Take greater control of your infrared heating with the BVF 801 Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat, a programmable wall-mounted controller designed for compatible infrared heating systems.

The BVF 801 combines temperature control, seven-day scheduling and remote app control with a clear LCD display and white backlight. Manage your heating from the thermostat itself or through the Netmostat app on your smartphone or tablet.

It is particularly useful for creating individually controlled heating zones throughout a home, office or commercial property.

Smartphone Control from Anywhere

Once connected to Wi-Fi and configured, the BVF 801 can be controlled through the Netmostat app on a compatible iOS or Android device.

This allows you to adjust your heating remotely, change the target temperature or alter your heating schedule without needing to be physically beside the thermostat. Remote functionality requires an internet connection.

The thermostat's backlit LCD also provides a clear view of the temperature, clock, heating status, programme period and selected operating mode.

7-Day Programmable Heating

Create a heating programme around the way you use your property. The seven-day programmable schedule offers four heating periods per day, allowing you to set different temperatures for different parts of your routine.

For example, you can programme a comfortable temperature for the morning, a lower setting while you are away, and a warmer setting for your return.

Separate Comfort and Energy-saving modes let you choose a preferred temperature for each mode, alongside the automatic programmed schedule.

Create Independent Heating Zones

Multiple BVF 801 thermostats can be installed to create independently controlled heating zones. Each thermostat controls the compatible heaters connected to its zone, allowing different rooms or areas to follow their own temperature settings and schedules.

This can be particularly useful for larger homes, offices, commercial premises, rental properties and other installations where different areas have different heating requirements.

Additional Control Features

The BVF 801 includes a range of configurable features to help you manage your heating:

• Key lock: helps prevent unwanted changes to the thermostat settings.
• Frost protection: an adjustable frost-protection temperature from 5°C to 15°C, with a factory setting of 5°C.
• Open-window detection: an optional temperature-drop detection function with adjustable detection and delay settings. This function is switched off by default.
• Adjustable standby brightness: set the display brightness to suit the room.
• Temperature calibration: adjustable offsets allow temperature readings to be calibrated where required.

Compatible with RADI8 Infrared Heating

The BVF 801 is suitable for controlling compatible infrared heating panels, infrared bar heaters and ceiling-mounted infrared heating systems, subject to the heater's electrical and control requirements.

It is designed primarily for infrared heaters without a built-in thermostat. If your heater already incorporates its own thermostat and controls, an external BVF 801 may not be required.

The BVF 801 can directly control compatible resistive heating loads of up to 3600W / 16A, within the manufacturer's stated rating.

Need to control more than 3600W? For larger infrared heating installations, the BVF 801 can control a higher total heating load when an appropriately rated contactor is incorporated into the electrical installation. In this arrangement, the thermostat controls the contactor rather than carrying the full heater load directly.

This allows multiple compatible infrared heaters to operate together as a single heating zone. The contactor, wiring and associated protective devices must be correctly specified and installed by a qualified electrician for the total connected load.

Room and External Sensor Options

The BVF 801 supports room sensing, external surface sensing, or combined room and surface sensing. Your installer should select the appropriate configuration for the heating system.

The specified external sensor type is NTC 10kΩ at 25°C. Configurable high-temperature protection settings are also available for applications using external surface sensing.

The factory-set temperature limits are 5°C to 35°C. The thermostat supports configurable settings within a wider 5°C to 80°C range, adjustable in 0.5°C steps, for different heating and sensing applications. The wider range should be configured by the installer to suit the system and is not a recommended room-temperature range.

Professional Installation Required

The BVF 801 must be professionally installed by a qualified electrician.

For installations within its direct switching capacity, the thermostat is hardwired into the electrical system between the compatible infrared heaters and the mains supply.

Where the total connected heating load exceeds the thermostat's 3600W / 16A direct switching capacity, an appropriately rated contactor can be incorporated into the installation. The thermostat then controls the contactor, which switches the higher electrical load.

The BVF 801 is compatible with a standard UK back box. Your electrician should check that the box provides sufficient depth and wiring space for the installation.

A Wi-Fi connection and internet access are required for remote app functionality. The thermostat also provides local temperature adjustment and programming through its built-in controls.

Built-In Thermostat or BVF 801?

The BVF 801 is particularly suited to our standard infrared heaters without built-in thermostat controls. It provides a dedicated wall-mounted thermostat with smart control and scheduling.

This makes it a strong choice where you want app control, programmable heating schedules or multiple independently controlled heating zones.

Heaters that already include an integrated thermostat and their own controls may not require an additional BVF 801.

Ideal for Single Heaters or Larger Infrared Heating Systems

The BVF 801 can be used with a single compatible infrared heater or as part of a larger zoned heating installation.

Several compatible infrared panels or bar heaters can be grouped together as one heating zone. Where their combined electrical load exceeds 3600W, a suitably designed contactor arrangement allows the BVF 801 to control the larger heating load without the full heater current passing directly through the thermostat.

This provides a flexible way to build smart, independently controlled infrared heating zones for both domestic and commercial applications.
