Testimonial - Infrared Heating for Equestrian Facilities at Green Lane Farm
Green Lane Farm in Surrey was looking for a practical way to provide additional warmth for horses during colder weather, particularly around an indoor treadmill used during exercise.
Jayne Dillon had previously experienced the infrared heater at another equestrian property and was impressed by how quickly it heated up and the comfortable warmth it provided while working with the horses.
After purchasing a heater for Green Lane Farm, its use was later extended to a stable area for a mare approaching foaling. Following her experience with the first heater, Jayne subsequently requested a second unit.
“I had experienced the heater at another equestrian property. I was impressed with how quickly the device heated up & that it gives a comfortable warmth to the area where we were working with our horses.
I bought the heater because I wanted to create a warm environment for my horses when they were using equipment, in our case an indoor treadmill, in the winter. This is to prevent muscle injury in cold weather.
More recently, we have a mare who is due to foal any day now - we wanted to create a warm & comfortable environment for her. The heater is now in her stable area. She is enjoying standing near the heater & looks very relaxed; she also has plenty of room to move away from it should she need to.

The Project
Green Lane Farm required additional heating for areas used by its horses during the colder months.
Jayne had already experienced the infrared heater while visiting another equestrian property. Having seen how it performed in an environment where people were working with horses, she decided to introduce the same type of heating at Green Lane Farm.
The initial requirement was to provide additional warmth around an indoor treadmill used by the horses during winter.
The Heating Challenge
Heating an equestrian environment requires consideration of both the area being heated and how the horses use the space.
Rather than necessarily heating an entire stable building, Jayne wanted to create a warmer environment around specific areas where the horses would spend time, initially while using the indoor treadmill.
The requirement later changed when a mare at the farm approached foaling. The heater was moved to her stable area to provide additional warmth, while ensuring she retained sufficient space to move away from the heated area whenever she chose.
The Infrared Heating Solution
An infrared heater was introduced at Green Lane Farm to provide radiant warmth within the required areas.
Infrared heaters transfer radiant energy to people, animals, objects and surfaces within their coverage area rather than relying primarily on heating and circulating the surrounding air.
For Jayne, one of the features that had initially impressed her was how quickly the heater itself warmed up and the comfortable sensation of warmth it provided while she was working with horses at another equestrian property.
Adaptable heating around the horses
The heater was initially purchased to provide warmth around the farm's indoor treadmill during winter. More recently, it has been used within the stable area of a mare approaching foaling.
Jayne reports that the mare chooses to stand near the heater and appears relaxed while doing so. Importantly, the stable arrangement also provides sufficient room for the mare to move away from the heated area whenever she wants.
The Result
Jayne reports that the infrared heater is working very well for Green Lane Farm across the different ways in which it has been used.
Her experience with the first unit has been positive enough that she has requested a second heater for the farm.
