Suitable applications

Infrared heating is suitable for both domestic and commercial spaces, particularly in environments where traditional heating systems are inefficient or costly to run. By heating people and surfaces directly rather than warming the surrounding air, infrared provides a more targeted and energy efficient way to heat a space.

This approach makes infrared heating especially effective in rooms with high ceilings, open layouts or intermittent use, while remaining adaptable to different room sizes and usage requirements. With discreet designs and advanced control options, infrared heating integrates easily into both modern interiors and demanding commercial environments.

Why Choose Infrared Heating?

Far infrared heating delivers comfortable, even warmth by heating people and surfaces directly. This results in lower running costs, improved comfort and a healthier indoor environment.

Control infrared heaters with a smart thermostat

Control your heating with smart thermostats

Our premium range infrared panels are compatible with our smart thermostat, providing you with control over a app as well as a wall mounted thermostat. You can easily turn the infrared panel heater on or off, set the desired temperature, and schedule heating times with the 7-day timer feature.

This ensures your space is always warm when you need it and helps optimize energy usage, making your heating system even more efficient and cost-effective.

Are frameless panels expensive to run?

Frameless infrared panels are not expensive to run when correctly sized and controlled. By delivering radiant heat directly to people and surfaces, rooms feel warm faster and at lower air temperatures.

In real UK homes, this often results in:

  • Shorter daily run times
  • Lower overall electricity consumption
  • Comfortable warmth without overheating

Running cost example:
If your electricity costs £0.20 per kWh, a 580W frameless infrared panel would cost around 12p per hour when running at full output (0.58 kW × £0.20).

Actual running costs depend on room size, insulation, ceiling height and how the space is used. For a full breakdown, see our guides on infrared heating running costs and compare infrared against traditional heating.

To size your room accurately and avoid overspending, use our wattage calculator.

Installation & maintenance

Frameless infrared panel heaters are designed to offer flexible installation options across a wide range of spaces. Each panel includes pre installed mounting brackets for straightforward wall installation and can be mounted horizontally or vertically to suit the room layout and heating requirements.

Panels are supplied with a standard UK 13 amp three pin plug for simple installation. For a cleaner finish and improved control, they can also be hardwired to the mains via a fused spur and paired with a compatible thermostat, allowing heating to be managed efficiently by room or zone.

Frameless infrared panels contain no moving parts and require no ongoing maintenance. The surface can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth once the panel has been switched off and allowed to cool.

Full installation instructions are provided with each panel. If you require guidance on mounting orientation or control compatibility, our team can advise based on your space and intended use.

Warranty & peace of mind

All infrared heaters supplied by Infrared Heating Supplies are covered by a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty for added peace of mind. This warranty applies to products installed and used in accordance with the supplied instructions.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects and faults under normal operating conditions. Full warranty terms and coverage details are provided with each product, and our team is available to assist in the unlikely event of a fault.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between framed and frameless infrared panels?
Framed and frameless infrared panels deliver the same heating performance. Frameless panels are designed with aesthetics in mind, featuring a smooth aluminium surface, clean edges and a minimalist finish, making them more discreet in modern interiors.
Do frameless infrared panels use a lot of energy?
No. Frameless infrared panels are highly energy efficient and typically use significantly less electricity than traditional convection heaters. Because they heat people and surfaces directly, they reach comfort levels faster and do not need to run continuously. Using a thermostat can further reduce energy consumption.
How long do frameless infrared panels last?
Frameless infrared panels are built with no moving parts and are designed for long term use. High quality models typically have a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours with minimal maintenance.
Are frameless infrared panels safe to use?
Yes. Frameless infrared panels are safe when installed correctly and used as intended. They produce no emissions, do not rely on combustion and include thermal protection to prevent overheating.
Can frameless infrared panels be used in multiple rooms?
Yes. Frameless infrared panels can be installed room by room, allowing each space to be heated independently. This makes them suitable for homes, offices and multi-room properties.
Can frameless infrared panels be installed in bathrooms?
Yes, provided a panel with the correct IP rating is selected and installed in accordance with UK bathroom zoning regulations. Bathroom installations should always be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Is wall or ceiling mounting better for frameless panels?
Both options work well. Ceiling mounting provides very even heat distribution and keeps walls clear, while wall mounting allows more targeted heating depending on room layout and seating areas.
How do I size frameless infrared panels for my room?
Panel sizing depends on room size, insulation and ceiling height. Use our Wattage Calculator for accurate guidance. In many cases, two smaller panels provide more even coverage than one larger unit.
