Mirror Infrared Panels

Mirror infrared panels combine practical reflective surfaces with efficient radiant heating for bathrooms, hallways and dressing rooms. By heating objects and surfaces directly, they help maintain a comfortable environment while keeping spaces quiet, uncluttered and visually clean.

Mirror infrared panels combine efficient radiant heating with a practical, space-saving mirror finish, making them an ideal solution for interiors where both warmth and functionality are required. Designed to blend seamlessly into the room, these panels provide comfortable heat while doubling as a full mirror.

By warming people and surfaces directly rather than circulating hot air, mirror infrared heaters create an even and comfortable indoor environment with reduced heat loss. Their reflective surface makes them particularly well suited to bathrooms, bedrooms, hallways and dressing areas, where wall space is limited and a clean, uncluttered appearance is preferred.

Mirror infrared panels are commonly chosen for residential and hospitality settings, including homes, hotels and serviced accommodation, where aesthetics and performance are equally important. The slim profile allows for discreet wall mounting without compromising on visual appeal.

Suitable applications

Infrared heating is suitable for both domestic and commercial spaces, particularly in environments where traditional heating systems are inefficient or costly to run. By heating people and surfaces directly rather than warming the surrounding air, infrared provides a more targeted and energy efficient way to heat a space.

This approach makes infrared heating especially effective in rooms with high ceilings, open layouts or intermittent use, while remaining adaptable to different room sizes and usage requirements. With discreet designs and advanced control options, infrared heating integrates easily into both modern interiors and demanding commercial environments.

Control infrared heaters with a smart thermostat

Control your heating with smart thermostats

Mirror infrared panels offer flexible temperature control depending on the model. Some panels include a built in thermostat, allowing simple, self contained operation without the need for additional components.

Mirror panels without a built in thermostat can be paired with an external thermostat to enable scheduling, timer functions and app or wall mounted control. Our smart thermostat is ideal where multiple panels are installed and need to be controlled together.

Built in thermostat models suit individual rooms such as bathrooms and bedrooms, while external thermostats are better suited where greater flexibility or grouped control across multiple panels is required.

Are mirror infrared panels expensive to run?

Mirror infrared panels are not expensive to run when correctly sized and controlled. By heating people and surfaces directly rather than the air, infrared mirror panels allow bathrooms and hallways to feel warm at lower air temperatures while also helping to reduce condensation.

In real UK homes, this often results in:

  • Lower energy use compared to towel rails or fan heaters
  • Reduced condensation and damp
  • Comfortable, even warmth without overheating

Running cost example:
If your electricity costs £0.20 per kWh, a 580W mirror infrared panel would cost around 12p per hour when running at full output (0.58 kW × £0.20). With thermostatic control, the panel cycles on and off, keeping average running costs lower.

Actual running costs depend on room size, insulation, ceiling height and how the space is used. For a full breakdown, see our guides on infrared heating running costs and compare infrared against traditional heating.

Installation & maintenance

Mirror infrared panel heaters are designed for simple and secure wall installation, making them a practical heating solution for bathrooms, bedrooms and other interior spaces. Each panel includes pre installed mounting brackets, allowing it to be fixed neatly to a suitable wall surface with minimal disruption.

These panels are supplied with a standard UK 13 amp three pin plug for straightforward installation. For improved control and a cleaner finish, they can also be hardwired to the mains via a fused spur and paired with a compatible thermostat, allowing heating to be managed efficiently by room or zone.

Mirror infrared panels contain no moving parts and require no ongoing maintenance. To keep the mirrored surface clean, the panel can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth once it has been switched off and allowed to cool.

Full installation guidance is provided with each heater. If you require advice on mounting position, electrical connection options or thermostat compatibility, our team can assist based on your space and installation requirements.

Warranty & peace of mind

All infrared heaters supplied by Infrared Heating Supplies are covered by a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty for added peace of mind. This warranty applies to products installed and used in accordance with the supplied instructions.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects and faults under normal operating conditions. Full warranty terms and coverage details are provided with each product, and our team is available to assist in the unlikely event of a fault.

Frequently asked questions

How do mirror infrared panels work?
Mirror infrared panels combine a reflective mirror surface with infrared heating technology. They emit radiant heat that warms people and surfaces directly rather than heating the air, providing comfortable, efficient warmth while functioning as a full size mirror.
Are mirror infrared panels suitable for bathroom installations?
Yes. Mirror infrared panels are commonly used in bathrooms when the correct IP rating is selected and the heater is installed in accordance with UK bathroom zoning regulations by a qualified electrician.
Do mirror infrared panels help prevent condensation?
Yes. The gentle radiant heat from the mirror helps prevent condensation forming on the surface, keeping the mirror clear and reducing fogging in humid bathroom environments.
Are mirror infrared panels energy efficient?
Yes. Mirror infrared panels are energy efficient because they heat people and objects directly rather than warming the air. This reduces heat loss and provides consistent comfort using less energy than traditional heating methods.
How much space can a mirror infrared heater cover?
Coverage depends on the panel wattage, room size and insulation. Mirror panels are best suited to small and medium sized rooms. Use our Wattage Calculator to select the correct output for your space.
How quickly do mirror infrared panels heat up?
Mirror infrared panels reach operating temperature within a few minutes. Overall room comfort improves progressively as walls, floors and furnishings absorb and re-radiate heat.
What maintenance do mirror infrared panels require?
Very little maintenance is required. Simply clean the mirror surface with a soft cloth when switched off. Avoid abrasive cleaners to preserve the mirror finish.
