IHS worked with one of the biggest retail chains in the UK to supply Infrared heating for their warehouse area, where employees were always complaining of cold areas, due to the loading bays being open and cold air coming in, especially during those cold winter months. The traditional fan heaters were being used, but to no avail as the hot air was constantly replaced with cold air and the overall temperature not reaching optimum levels. Here’s a problem which many retailers big or small and warehouses face. The cost of heating a huge area is not only inefficient but quite simply a waste of money.

The Enquiry: The retail store were looking to replace industrial warehouse heaters in their loading bay areas with a cost-effective energy-efficient heating solution for a confined area within the loading bay area so their warehouse team could work in a comfortable heated space. They were looking for a full-service solution of audit, design, supply, and install.

The Solution: Instead of looking to heat the whole warehouse and loading bay area we focused on where the majority of the activity was taking place, which was a confined area near the loading bay and an office space, an area less than 10% of the warehouse space. We specified eight of our 2.4 KW far infrared linear bar heaters without a thermostat, instead having an external smart thermostat to control all the heaters from one central control, one for the loading area and one for the office space.
